Engineering Students’ Conference at Peradeniya ESCaPE-2016
The Oldest Computer Engineering Department in the university system of the country, Department of Computer Engineering of University of Peradeniya, with the collaboration of Association of Computer Engineering Students (ACES), organized its annual symposium on 14th of September at Excel World, Colombo.
Keynote speaker for the day, Mr. Thilak De Silva, Chief business and innovation officer of Sri Lanka Telecom made an interesting discussion on ‘How can we become a key player in global communication industry’.
Project and Research Presentation and a Job Fair took the center stage of ESCaPE 2016. The undergraduates presented their projects and researches to a very active audience consisted of 40+ IT companies in Sri Lanka.
In the award ceremony for the best performers, Janitha Samarasekara won the award for ‘the best presenter’ for his project on ‘Accelerating Lossless Compression with GPU’. And the award for the best paper went to Buddhi Wickramasinghe, Malin Premathilaka and Olitha Vithanage for their project, ‘Accelerating Mutual Information Analysis Based Power Analysis Attack using the GPU’, while Tharinda Ehelepola and Menaka Jayawardhana secured the award for the ‘most popular poster’ for their project, ‘A modular restful software platform for identifying unknown metabolites in complex biofluids’.
The Job Fair for final year students turned out to be a huge success with the participation of around 20 leading IT companies in Sri Lanka.
The day concluded with the annual get-together of ACES, “IMMENSE 2016”.
